Week 1: Peace

"I am leaving you with a gift -- peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives."  John 14:27

Sunday: Poon Pareegentan (Day of Good Living)

Monday: First Day of Lent, pray for those who suffer and count your personal blessings.

Tuesday: Reflect on your own life and write down three hopes and dreams for the future.

Wednesday: What is peace?  Read Psalm 122:6-9 and pray for someone in need.  The peace referred to in these verses is much more than the mere absence of conflict.  It suggests completeness, health, justice, prosperity, and protection.  Real peace comes from faith in God, because he alone embodies all the characteristics of peace.  To find peace of mind and peace with others, you must first find peace with God.

Thursday: Tell your loved ones that you love them.  Surprise your parents with a big bear hug.

Friday: Learn about local groups working for peace.  How can you help?

Saturday: Peace is the result of dependence on God.  Read and discuss Psalm 3:4-5 which shows that the assurance of answered prayer brings peace.  It is easier to sleep well when we have full assurance that God is in control of circumstances.  If you are lying awake at night worrying about circumstances you can't change, pour your heart out to God and thank Him for being in control.  Then, sleep will come.
