The sharagans on this recording, sung during the Church's Easter cycle, all revolve around a common theme: The glorious resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Rev. Fr. Mesrob Benlian was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He received his spiritual and academic training at Holy Etchmiadzin Theological School in Armenia. He was later sent to Sofia, Bulgaria, where he served in the Armenian Church parish for 27 years. He studied music, majoring in vocal performance, at the Bulgarian Conservatory in Sofia. He is now a parish pastor in the Eastern Diocese, serving in the St. Kevork Armenian Church of Houston, TX. He is a featured soloist on this special Easter music collection. Bedros Papazian is well known in Bulgarian music circles, both as a conductor and as a violist with the Sofia Philharmonic. Since 1993, he has been executive director of the Bulgarian National Philharmonic in Sofia. He is a founder and musical director of the Orkestral Ensemble in Sofia.
