Women's Guild Council Meets
Concurrent with the 2003 Diocesan Assembly, the Women's Guild Central Council held their annual assembly in Detroit. Archbishop Khajag Barsamian spoke with the delegates, honoring those council members who were stepping down from their Central Council positions.
The keynote speaker during the Women's Guild Assembly was Dr. Mary Papazian, an English professor and associate dean of the College of Arts and Science at Oakland University in Michigan. She spoke on "An Effective Leader Results in a Successful Organization."
"We all can be or all are leaders in many
small and large ways in one environment or another," she told the dozens
of women at the gathering. "Women are assuming these leadership roles
in our churches, universities, public arenas, and other institutions.
One of the most important roles women play, where they assert a role
of leadership, is the family. In these roles women are role models for
the future.
