Established in Yerevan in 1970, the Republic of Armenia's National Museum of Children's Art is considered the world's first museum dedicated solely to the exhibition of artwork by children. Its affiliated art studio, the National Center of Aesthetics (opened in 1978), has trained countless young Armenian talents in a wide range of fine arts—including painting, sculpture and textiles—with the most exquisite pieces being featured in the museum's onsite and traveling exhibitions. The illustrations in this calendar are from a special series of works dedicated t othe 1700th anniversary of Armenia's conversion to Christianity, published in a catalogue titled Let There Be Light! Many of the works were displayed in a U.S. exhibition sponsored by the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of America, which toured locales in New York, Illinois and Wisonsin in the winter of 2002.
