Women's Guild Central Council (WGCC)
Established in 1986, the Women's Guild Central Council's mission is to live the Christian faith according to the teachings of the Bible, doctrines, traditions and heritage of the Armenian Church.
The Parish Guilds and the Central Council sponsor a variety of projects in the U.S. and Armenia.
Projects in the U.S.- Elected WGCC board members are assigned as liaisons to local parish guilds to establish a closer line of communication with parish guild chairs.
- Women Saints Day is commemorated each year during mid-Lent. The Primate chooses the saints. Appropriate biographies, prayers and songs are issued by the Diocese for dissemination by the WGCC to local guilds.
- The Annual Women's Guild Assembly is held concurrently with the Diocesan Assembly. An agenda and speaker--to coincide with the Primate's plan and theme for the year--is prepared and disseminated by the WGCC to local parish guilds.
- A Women's Guild Day is encouraged and observed by local parish guilds in memory of deceased members with requiem services followed by a fellowship hour.
- Fundraising events (such as the ongoing "Ornaments as Keepsakes") are held to benefit both the WGCC and the local parish guilds.
- The Children of Armenia Sponsorship Program (CASP) was established nine years ago to benefit orphan and needy children in Armenia.
- The Schoolbag Project for Armenian children provides much needed encouragement to early-school-age children in Armenia and includes book bags filled with children's Armenian bibles and much needed basic school supplies.
