Presentation of our Lord to the Temple

On February 14 the church will celebrate the feast of the Presentation of the Lord to the Temple. This event in the life of our Lord is recorded in the Gospel of Luke 2:21-40. Read the text with your class. Below are some important points to emphasize in your discussion of the Bible passage. Afterwards, have students complete the worksheet on their own. (Note: There are no wrong or right answers. Students should just circle the response they like best, then be prepared to explain why.) When worksheets are completed, have students share in small groups. Afterwards, discuss as a class. Close with prayer.

Love-giving for Lent

"What are you giving up for Lent?" We hear the question frequently just before and during the Lenten season. Although this love-giving sacrifice is a voluntary act, too often teens' answers are expressed in a negative attitude of resignation. Sometimes they include plans to eat a certain food or participate in a particular activity, "before I have to give it up for six weeks. " Such a spirit robs the participant of joy. An alternative six-week project, "Love-Giving for Lent" provides a positive approach to the Lenten season. It's based on the idea of love-giving to others as if offering it to Christ. With it the blessings of Easter are multiplied. Suggest the following to your teens.
