Feast of the Catholic Church of Holy Etchmiadzin

Print out the two pdf coloring pages, and while your students color tell them about the story of St. Gregory and how the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin was founded.  Tell them that St. Gregory had a vision in which the heavens opened up and man in brilliant light sent angles down to earth, where they struck the ground with a golden hammer.  There were three columns of clouds where martyrs' faces shone, above it all, a splendid cross.

It was clear to St. Gregory that God had shown him the Gospel spreading over the land of Armenia, and the special places where a great church was to be built and the saintly martyred nuns to be buried and remembered.

They built the great church that would come to be called Holy Etchmiadzin (the place where the only-begotten-Jesus Christ-came down).
