Tonight was the last talent show of SVC 08, and boy was it good! Our campers, CITs, and staff did everything from comedy skits to dance-offs to the weekly favorite, stupid human tricks. There were an array of musicians singing and playing their instruments as well. It was a great ending to a summer of talent. We can't believe tomorrow is the last day, but we are looking forward to one more full day of fun!
Tonight it was the oldest teens' turn to plan the evening activity. They did a great job organizing an improv comedy night, and campers and staff had a lot of fun dressing up in costume, using props, and thinking of funny skits on the fly. These campers are going to be great CITs next year!
These past two days have been filled with fun activities. On Monday night we had campwide Clue, and the beautiful weather on Tuesday made for a perfect day for a CIT Hunt! We are enjoying our last few days of SVC 08.

This weekend was a perfect way to relax after an exciting week of SVC activities. On Friday night we had our first dance, with a sports theme, followed by a campfire. On Saturday we said bye to our one week campers and wore ourselves out during campwide capture the flag. On Sunday we celebrated Badarak, welcomed our C2 campers, and spent the afternoon workin on and performing our Olympics chants and cheers in preparation for our events later in the week. Tonight we'll wind down with a movie and get ready for the final week of this SVC summer!
These past few days have been so great. Even though it was raining, we had fun with our rainy day activities. We have had our classes, movies, discussions, and the talent show. On Thursday, His Eminence Archbishop Khajag Barsamian came to visit, and we enjoyed showing him how well we are learning Armenian with the newly donated laptops.
Another SVC session has started and the energy of the new campers is electric! Session C is full to capacity and the staff is having a great time getting to know the campers, almost half of who are here for the first time. Today we got into the groove of our schedule: sports, swimming, classes, etc. Tonight we had a campwide scavenger hunt. We ended our day with evening vespers in the chapel. Can't wait til tomorrow!
Last night's talent show was a blast, and today was another scorcher - so we really enjoyed going swimming today. Tonight is the farewell dance and camper, we will be so sad to say goodbye!
These past two days have been lots of fun! Yesterday was the favorite SVC tradition, the CIT Hunt. Everyone had a great time gettin the CITs with shaving cream and water. Today we had some interesting visitors. Two teens, students at the Tarmanchantz school in Jerusalem, came to visit us for the day as part of their trip to the U.S. We were surprised to learn that there is an Armenian quarter in the Holy City. We had fun getting to know them and learning about where they are from. In the evening, the oldest teens organized a rotation of really fun evening activities, including kareoke, improv, pictionary, and guess that tune. They did a great job and really showed their leadership skills!
Another week has started at SVC. The weather was cool in the morning but heated up in time for afternoon swim. Fr. Shnork from St. Mary's in Livingston taught religion today, and we learned about St. Gregory of Nareg and the beautiful prayers he wrote. We even wrote our own prayers, some of which will be printed in the Vartan Voice! Tonight's evening activity was Singled Out, a camp favorite.
The past few days have been so much fun! On Friday evening we had our first dance. The theme was sports, and the friendly New York/Boston competition heated up with everyone wearing their favorite team's jersey. On Saturday morning we said goodbye to our B1 campers. After lunch we had campwide Olympics. The events had campers running all over the campus, with physical and mental challenges. In the evening we winded down with some free time. On Sunday morning we celebrated Badarak, and after brunch we paired up with someone from a different counselor group for buddy day. Tonight is outdoor movie night, a great way to end the weekend and get ready for another busy week at SVC!

Today was a perfect summer day! After a busy day of outdoor activities and a delicious dinner, the campers, CITs and staff prepared for an unforgettable Talent Show hosted by the Super Mario Brothers and Friends. Everyone was wowed by the creativity and talents displayed.

Tonight all of the campers and CITs finally found out which Olympic team they were on and search ed their suitcases for the perfect red, blue, yellow or green outfit. The teams worked together to create team names, posters and chants. The camp spirit soared as everyone came together and cheered each other on.

After a great day of classes, sports and swim, the campers and CITs were divided into two teams and played an intense game of Capture the Flag. The players wore either red or blue to sport their team color, while the staff reffed the game in black.

Session B is in full swing and we are already having tons of fun. Yesterday was our first day of classes, sports, swimming, group time, a fun evening activity of Scattergories, and chapel. Everyone’s been having a great time reconnecting with old friends and getting to know the many new campers that are here for the first time. Today is looking to be fantastic day; the weather is hot and humid (perfect pool weather!) and after dinner tonight we will be playing capture the flag. Check back soon for tonight’s blog!
Today was the greatest day yet at SVC. We finally got our camp shirts – usually we get them on the first day of camp, but this year the counselors surprised us by giving out the shirts during arts & crafts and letting us tie dye them. The shirts came out great, and we can’t wait to wear them in the camp photo! In the afternoon, our traditional CIT hunt took place, when all the CITs hide and the campers follow clues to find them and douse them with shaving cream and water. We had a cook out for dinner, and just when we thought things couldn’t get any better, the oldest teens organized capture the flag for the evening activity. They really showed the leadership skills they will use next year as CITs, and the rest of the camp had tons of fun during the game. Tomorrow is another busy day, so goodnight for now, we need to get our beauty sleep!
Yesterday was first day of July brought a little rain but a lot of good times here at SVC. A lot of us took tennis lessons today with Patty, a visiting tennis instructor (and Jenni’s mom!). In the evening, we had a campwide scavenger hunt. We worked in our counselors groups to find one object for each letter of the alphabet that no other team had. After all the points were added up, the youngest teen girls had the most unique items and were the winners, followed up by a tie between the youngest junior girls and oldest junior boys for second place. We are looking forward to the fun activities today holds in store.
