MORE THAN $12,000 GIVEN TO YOUNG ARMENIAN LEADERS

The Diocese of the Armenian Church of America (Eastern) awarded more than $12,000 in scholarships to deserving young Armenian undergraduates attending four-year colleges during the 2004-2005 school year. The money comes from various endowments established by benefactors who want to invest in the next generation of Armenian community leaders.

In total, 14 students received scholarships. The Diocese looked for students who were active in the church and assumed leadership roles in their local communities.

“These students are proud of their Armenian heritage and their commitment to the Armenian Church,” said Archbishop Khajag Barsamian. “While their intelligence and dedication to their school work will make them successful in their careers, they also will be successful Armenians, for they deeply love the Armenian Church and will continue to share their gifts with the church for decades to come.”

The Armenian Church Endowment Fund is able to help anyone wishing to create a legacy of knowledge in young Armenians by opening their own endowed scholarship. If you have questions or would like more information on starting an endowed scholarship, call Berjouhi Saladin at 212-686-0710 or email her at acef@armeniandiocese.org.
