Group II: Intercession (Petition)

This group will discuss asking God's intervention to help them and others in times of need.

Bible Verse: "Therefore he is able to save completely or forever those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them." Hebrews 7:25
Other Verses: I Cor. 1:18-31; Ephesians 1:15-23; James 3:13-18; Luke 2:41-52; Mark 10:17-30.
What types of things should we be asking of the Lord?
How do we petition the Lord to intervene for us?
Can we only ask God to intercede in our prayers? If not, who else?
Discuss examples of petitionary prayer found in the Badarak.
Group Exercise: With the group, create a list of problems in the world today, such as impending war, terrorism, poverty, loneliness, etc. Then, after mentioning each world problem, ask group members to call out a prayer of intercession relating to the issue.
Individual Exercise: Have each group member write a personal prayer of intercession.
