Boston's Young Leaders Create Unique Outreach Structure
One of the most promising by-products of the new Archbishop's Annual Appeal has been the creation of stronger local communities, raising funds and awareness in support of the Diocese.
Regional committees are being created to broaden the base of support of the Annual Appeal. Community leaders are assuming a stronger sense of responsibility for the overall health of the Armenian Church.
The New England region is taking the lead in developing the regional structure. In Boston, a group of young professionals called on to support the Archbishop's Annual Appeal did so, and many are now working together to develop and implement a series of community programs to increase awareness, understanding and support of the Diocese and its programs and services. This, they agree, will also serve to encourage greater support and participation of the Archbishops Annual Appeal 2003, while providing opportunities to reach out to those not presently involved.
The group of young faithful in Boston -- who call themselves Diocesan Outreach and host meetings in space provided by the Sheraton Commander Hotel in Cambridge, MA -- is a key initiative of the Diocesan Development Committee to increase awareness and understanding of the programs and services of the Eastern Diocese, its parishes, and organizations, while reaching out to broaden participation and support of the Archbishop's Annual Appeal. A model being developed in Boston will soon be replicated in targeted cities throughout the Diocese.
